I enjoyed working in an environment where my team was excited to watch me learn and grow; they were willing to help me along the way. I was challenged to put ideas I have learned in the classroom to real scenarios.

Assurance Intern
January - March 2020 • Tampa, FL
What I liked
I consider my time as an intern as a wonderful learning experience. I had the opportunity to work in four different teams and industries that were different from one another. I liked everything about the firm, but what I think was more important to me is that in every team that I was on the professionals were always willing to help me and provide guidance, despite being extremely busy with their own work. Working as a team and lifting one another is a fundamental part of the firm’s culture.

Advice
One piece of advice that I would share with future interns is to take advantage of the opportunity to learn from the great people that work for the firm. If you do not understand something there is always someone else who is willing to help you. Being a team player is extremely important and valued!

Financial Assurance Intern
January - March 2021 • Minneapolis, MN
What I liked
I really enjoyed the people in the Minneapolis office and the work the FSO sector does. The FSO is not limited to different regions which gives more flexibility to work for different branches within EY.
What I wish was different
I do wish that I could have experienced the internship in person. My experience was 100 percent online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. EY did a great job making me feel apart of the organization and creating networking opportunities on an online platform.
Advice
My advice for those going into an internship with EY is to work on your time management and communication skills. Your supervisors need to know your progress on different tasks to make their tasks flow smoothly too. If you are struggling with something, let your supervisor know. In my experience, supervisors were extremely helpful on resolving problems and harder tasks.
I also recommend to ask questions. I made it a point to ask at least one question for every meeting or check in. This helps you understand your tasks better, and it shows your supervisor that you are engaged in the conversation as well.

I loved the rotation between the three service lines: Tax, Advisory, & Assurance.
What I wish was different
I wish I had been able to spend more time in Tax and Advisory because I was deciding more between those two service lines for my internship this upcoming summer.
Advice
If you have an idea of what you want to do do not be afraid to tell them but also keep an open mind to other areas you might not have thought of before.

Transfer pricing intern
June - August 2018 • Seattle, WA
What I liked
I liked getting to experience the accounting community at one of the big 4. I got to learn company culture and pleasantly learned EY is really big on diversity and inclusion which had made me feel welcomed in corporate America. I got to do real work in a team and contribute the valuable skills I learned at the UW classrooms.
What I wish was different
I wish they offered me a bus pass for the summer.
Advice
Come ready to absorb all the wonderful things the company can offer, and also be ready to show off the skills you learned!

What I liked
The variety of experiences; my assigned teams; my coworkers; the level of respect and trust that was given to me
What I wish was different
I would have liked the experience to be longer.
Advice
I would advise another student to be confident in their abilities and knowledge when entering an internship with a Big Four. It can be intimidating, but Duquesne honestly prepared me so well and I definitely know more than I even think I do.

Forensic Technology and Discovery Services Intern
June - August 2018 • New York City, NY
What I liked
They treated their interns very well and hosted a lot of intern events for team bonding and intern bonding. They also had ongoing training for the interns in my department throughout the internship to teach us new skills and help us learn more about the work, which was very useful for me. And of course, the international intern leadership conference was very fun!
What I wish was different
In the beginning they didn't seem ready for interns because they didn't have much work to give out to interns, but it got better as the internship progressed.
Advice
Make sure you use this opportunity to meet new people and talk with people in all levels!

Forensic Accounting Intern
June - August 2018 • Boston, MA
What I liked
I liked how I was really able to get the all around experience of working for a "big four" as well as working in the city. The experience showed me what my work day would be like and what travel time looked like going to the city in the morning.
What I wish was different
Nothing at all. EY does a great job of making sure not only do you get great exposure to the services they perform and the work they do, but also what their "big picture" is and how you can help them reach their goals.
Advice
One piece of advice I would share about not only this experience but just internships in general, is to ask as many questions as you can. If given a task, try it for a couple minutes and if you're struggling don't hesitate to ask. The more questions you ask, the better off you will be in the future.

Audit Intern
June - August 2018 • New York City, NY
What I liked
I worked at one client the entire summer which allowed me to get to know my team well and develop a good understanding of my client. I was on a big client so it was interesting for me to learn about the workings of such a large company.
What I wish was different
I wish I had the chance to work with more interns. Since I spent most of my time at the client site, I did not get to work with many other interns.
Advice
It's important to go into this experience with an open mind and be willing to ask questions and learn. It may feel like there is a lot of information being thrown at you at first, but your team will be happy to answer any questions and help you understand the work you are doing.

PAS Intern
May - July 2018 • Chicago, IL
What I liked
Not much.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had not been on such a small team and on an internal project. I understand that this was done to keep costs down for a "side project", but I didn't feel like my work was at all compelling.
Advice
You are going to meet so many people and it might help to jot down notes on names and positions.
