I really liked the flexibility and the different sessions I took part in. I was able to meet so many people, both interns, and EY employees.
What I wish was different
It would have been great if it were in person, but COVID happened and so it was a virtual experience.
Advice
Be ready to learn and to network, The company isn't looking for someone who is perfect, just someone who is passionate and ready to learn.

What I liked
During my Launch Internship with EY I had the opportunity to work with many different service lines to see which one I preferred. Throughout the internship I spent time with the Risk Advisory, Audit and Tax teams. My time with the company was amazing, everyone was welcoming and helpful and this experience has confirmed my interest in Audit. I even still met with some of the employees on Thursday nights for beach volleyball.
What I wish was different
Nothing, it was an astonishing experience.
Advice
For any accounting students looking for an internship, EY is a great place to start.

What I liked
I like the networking and the experience. The people were so willing to teach and alleviated the feeling of not knowing what to do. They explained everything one by one and helped make my experience at the internship very memorable.
What I wish was different
I wish I knew about this sooner so that I would've applied sooner rather than later.
Advice
My advice is that you should apply to the internships. Even if they feel out of reach because you never know what opportunities you could receive. I applied on a whim, not expecting a reply. It really changed my summer and gave me a strong reference for my resume.

What I liked
Despite being virtual, EY hosted many intern events for both educational purposes and community building. My manager and team were fantastic, and really brought me into their project for the short 3 weeks I was there.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been longer than 5 weeks to have more client time, but due to Covid-19 this was difficult to facilitate.
Advice
EY wants people who are passionate and friendly! If you are an intern there, don't worry about what you don't know (they really focus on your development throughout), but focus on building relationships and doing the best possible job you can.

What I liked
The experience itself was better than I expected, because I didn’t know exactly what to expect
What I wish was different
Fewer emails with everything we need, there were too many emails and some that we had to keep referring to. This was the first virtual internship so it had some inconveniences, but it still went very well
Advice
Always ask for help when you’re unsure!

July - August 2020 • Los Angeles, CA
What I liked
Although my internship was entirely virtual due to COVID, I learned way more than I imagined I would. There were webinars every other day that gave more insight into the different career paths and areas within EY. Interns were given the opportunity to earn badges in areas such as Blockchain and Data Analytics with a variety of learning resources. My team was very welcoming and helpful. They gave me enough freedom and guidance for me to accomplish tasks on my own without feeling like a burden or clueless. There were also multiple social events for interns to get to know one another and professionals.
What I wish was different
I wish I was able to interact more with different teams as opposed to only hearing about them. During my internship, I mainly worked with one team.
Advice
Be a sponge and take up as much knowledge as you can but don't burn yourself out. This is the time where people expect you to know nothing. Ask as many questions as you want.

Business Consulting Intern
July - August 2020 • Chicago, IL
What I liked
Despite the internship being virtual, EY's recruiting team worked hard to ensure that the interns had a meaningful experience in which we were able to learn about the firm and the work we would be doing full time. We also had so many opportunities to network virtually and meet other interns. The final capstone was a great experience in which we worked with interns from all over the country.
What I wish was different
I wish we had been able to complete the internship in person as planned, but some things are out of our control!
Advice
Be willing to learn and help your team as much as you can! Branch out and network with other interns and professionals every chance you get.

Forensic & Integrity Services Intern
July - August 2020 • Iselin, NJ
What I liked
That the company put so much effort in ensuring that the interns still had the opportunity to network within the firm despite the internship being virtual.
What I wish was different
I wish it didn't get shortened because of Covid. I think we could have easily done the whole 3 months without an issue.
Advice
I think one of the biggest success factors I had was due to my attitude when it came to working online. Every professional would always apologize about something not being perfect over the virtual internship. I would always respond with, "It's really not a big deal, I'm just happy to be here and have this opportunity" and it reflected well. Every review I received from my superiors always mentioned a "positive attitude" and that I'm "easy to work with." The work force is going through major changes right now and everyone is trying to learn how to adapt. I think it's really important to show employers that you can be flexible.

What I liked
I enjoyed the structure of the rotational program to allow me to gain insight within different service lines without having me choose one to stick to. I also enjoyed the hands-on experience I had and the multiple professionals I was able to network with in-person and over Microsoft Teams.
What I wish was different
I wished I could have done more in depth work into each client.
Advice
I would start networking from the very beginning in the future career service line that you would want to transfer into.

What I liked
I really loved the collaborative and inviting culture of the firm! Almost every person I interacted with was so welcoming and willing to talk and provide guidance, which made my work experiences really fulfilling and easy to tackle.
What I wish was different
I wish my internship had been a little bit longer, since it was cut short due to COVID-19.
Advice
Don't be afraid to reach out and connect with new people! So many people at the firm (at all levels) are open to setting up a call with you, or sitting down for a coffee chat, even if they haven't met you before. If you're really interested by someone's work, or want to learn about something specific, don't hesitate to reach out and ask to meet with people.
