PLenty of exposure to many new experiences and an exciting new field of work. The employees are funny and generally willing to help.
What I wish was different
Lack of training on most tasks given to you to perform. Living in Elko is not fun at all. Not that much feedback or support while you are expected to perform.
Advice
Make sure you are assigned to have your internship where you want and not some other department of the company.

Human Resources Intern
May - December 2020 • Elko, NV
What I liked
I had an incredible mentor, people were nice, and I got a lot of experiences to learn and to try new things. I was given a lot of autonomy in my role, but also direction.
What I wish was different
Maybe explore more areas within the HR department, I work all of my time with the Recruiting Team. They told me that if I wanted to explore more things I should tell them, and I looking back I never did tell them.
Advice
Over all it was a great experience for me and the kind of person I am, if you don't mind moving to a small city far away from other cities then this is a perfect opportunity to gain experience, they also sponsor international students so you should see if there is a place for you there.

Contracts Administrator Intern
May - August 2019 • Elko, NV
What I liked
Elko, Nevada is a huge change of scenery to someone who has spent most or the entirety of their life in cities. It gives you a new and exciting chance to experience a different type of job role. A little more hands on, a little farther out of the way, or underneath the ground in a mine some days.
What I wish was different
Nothing, I had a great experience.
Advice
You don't have to know or understand gold mining or the industry. A passion and wanting to learn is more than enough, a lot can be experienced even just over a summer.
