Research assistant
January - December 2019 • Montclair, NJ
What I liked
Being able to utilize the lab techniques that I learned in previous classes such as biology and chemistry labs. Also being part of a team where the knowledge that I learned in my classes was applied to real cancer research.
What I wish was different
Seeing how our contributions were used in the hospital technical setting.
Advice
Not research will go smoothly. Have patience and stay optimistic that your result will potentially have a positive impact on the world.

Zoology Lab Assistant
September 2019 • Montclair, NJ
What I liked
My ongoing internship has given me a suite of first-hand experience--in the field, in the lab, and with public presentation--that has built a solid foundation for my professional knowledge. Not only have I been able to work under the wing of a very experienced marine biologist who has passed down tons of knowledge to me, but I have also gained experience that gives me a head start in my future career. Just as important, though, is how many memories I have enjoyed and formed because of these experiences second only to a true marine biologist, which will live with me forever.
What I wish was different
Coincidentally, a variety of weather events have been occurring during the past two summers that has made our research efforts a bit challenging, particularly with collecting data. Thus, the only thing I can say I wish was different was that the climate was more charitable for our cause; of course, this is in no way in our control.
Advice
These types of internships are more than just getting a foot into the professional door, as this experience both builds up your resume while also building up your knowledge for your field of expertise. Start as early as you can with internships and experience in your field, as you will find out that the experience you gain is not just a competitive advantage, but also a way to have a better real-world understanding of the concepts you may learn about inside and outside the classroom.

I don't think there could be nothing different about the experience.
Advice
This experience showed me many things about my self in knowing what is expected at a work or a office. I learned how to present my self in a professional manor. So what i learned is life lessons that I can take to other jobs that can make me a better worker to get the best job.
