Research and Development Intern
A research and development organization in Fairfax, VA, is seeking qualified candidates in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, and Mechanical Engineering. We are seeking candidates who have a passion for scientific research. We are looking for candidates excited and energized by the prospect of solving complex problems and tackling challenges in the scientific and engineering fields.
Selected candidates will be responsible for the following:
- Experience in chemical lab work.
- Planning, designing, and conducting independent research.
- Monitoring state-of-the-art technology through literature/patent research
- Develop new technologies and products
- Conducting experiments and documenting data in an accurate and reliable manner
- Summarizing and preparing interim and final project results.
- Performing special project tasks directed by the supervisors as and when required, providing technical support and training to researchers.
Minimum Qualification Required
Enrolled in a Degree program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or other related subjects. The ideal candidate will have scientific research experience in materials chemistry, synthesis, and characterization techniques.
- Proven record of success in conducting practical, creative, and independent work.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to complete projects on time
Candidates must be U.S. citizens or Permanent residents. Applications from candidates with other visas will not be considered. Since this is an internship position, senior members will not be considered.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with materials manufacturing and related fields
Prior experience working in a Small Business or Industry preferred
Experience in an R&D environment
Excellent communication skills
Demonstrated technical leadership skills and ready to accept challenges
