Department Description
The US R&D Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Department is responsible for directing and supporting EHS&S programs to ensure a safe work environment, compliance with laws, regulations and GSK Standards, and ensuring that EHS-related risks and impacts are effectively managed. The department provides EHS&S technical guidance and support to site personnel.
Job Description
The EHS Intern will support the Environment, Health and Safety department at Upper Merion and Upper Providence R&D Sites to implement our programs to mitigate key risks at the sites. The position will assist staff on various projects which may include:
- Conducting various EHS assessments and surveys at the site.
- Industrial Hygiene monitoring.
- Sound level surveys and personal noise dosimetry.
- Environmental Seasonal reports - Tier II, Form R, AIMS report, plan approval extensions, compliance history reports.
- Biodiversity activities - planning, volunteer coordination, assist on day of activity, written report completion.
- Partner with R&D to perform Safety inspections of laboratories.
- Assistance with development and coordination of Emergency Response Team drills and training.
- Coordination and/or assistance with planning of Health and Safety promotional activities.
Other responsibilities include assisting, preparing and/or delivering EHS training and conducting various EHS research using commonly used standards and regulations such as OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI and ASHRAE. They will also participate on Site-Wide Safety Committees.
Minimum Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelors degree (Juniors, Seniors, or within 12 months post-graduation) in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Chemistry, or related disciplines.
- Basic understanding of Industrial Safety programs and regulations, such as Chemical Safety, Material Handling, Noise, Ergonomics, Safety Data Sheets, etc.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
- Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the 12 week internship cycle (May/June - August 2025).
- Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of data analytics software (i.e., Power BI or Smartsheet).
- Ability to work independently.
- Creative thinker and problem-solver.

Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.

This job posting is for a temporary role as an employee of Atrium on assignment at GSK. The individual selected for this role will be offered the role as an employee of Atrium; compensation, medical benefits, fringe benefits and other terms and conditions of employment shall be presented by Atrium upon offer. The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting. The actual pay rate will be based on several factors, including skills, competencies, experience, educational degree obtained, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law.
In addition, this role will be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirement.
Pay Rate Range: $21/hr to $40/hr
