Product Stewardship Summer Intern

Carpenter Co. has a 12 week Research and Development summer internship at our Reinhart Technical Center in Richmond, Virginia. This full time internship position will begin May 27, 2025.
As the successful intern, you will be providing support to the Product Stewardship group by leading activities under the guidance and supervision of a senior mentor. Throughout the internship, you will gain experience in chemical hazard identification and analyses, understand formulation and raw material impacts on product compliance and marketability along with foundational chemical risk management concepts.
Your additional responsibilities as Product Stewardship Intern will include:
- Lead activities supporting regulatory and safety software implementation
- Develop inventory of raw material vendor disclosures, define metrics and establish an SOP to ensure data remains up-to-date
- Lead cross-functional project to support regulatory compliance and submissions related to PFAS
- Establish a procedure for periodically identifying and sending hazardous product SDSs to CHEMTREC
Skills/ Requirements
- Minimum H.S. diploma or equivalent
- Completion of 2 years of college or university in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science with minimum 2.75 GPA
- Basic understanding and use of Microsoft Office suite
- Strong research, analytical and communication skills
