Job Description: 

The IT Cybersecurity organization protects L3Harris Intellectual Property, brand identity and employees from cyber threats that could disrupt business or harm the company’s reputation. We rely on highly skilled experts, the latest tools and techniques and current industry intelligence to create a comprehensive risk mitigation strategy that defends against attackers, shapes emerging security requirements and ensures compliance with all privacy laws and government regulations. 

The IT Cybersecurity organization in Melbourne, FL is seeking a Summer 2024 IT Security Intern. In this role you will safeguard the corporation against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction or disclosure. You will also provide technical and hands-on assistance with the design, implementation and operations of platforms and tools used by the Security Operations Center (SOC) and Incident Response Team (IRT). 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor the environment for suspicious and malicious activity using Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) toolsets 
  • Document security events and incidents within internal ticketing system 
  • Analyze cyber threat intelligence reports 
  • Investigate suspicious email submissions 
  • Assist in implementing, operating and maintaining mission critical cybersecurity tools 

Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing a degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong interest in IT Security 
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both a technical and user-friendly language 
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail 
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with ability to make decisions in a high-pressure environment 
  • Familiarity to scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell 
  • Exposure to cybersecurity tools such as Security Information and Event Managers (SIEM), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Network Security Monitoring (NSM), Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) 
  • Exposure to REST APIs and microservices, CI/CD concepts, Git, Docker, and cloud providers
