Structural Project Manager

Job Summary:

The Structural Project Manager uses advanced design and project management skills to complete projects while training and mentoring team members. The incumbent holds overall responsibility for multiple projects at the same time. Duties involve planning and executing a specific project plan, delivering quality products and services to the client in a timely manner, proactively managing project financials, and serving as the primary contact between the project team and the client. The Structural Project Manager ensures that projects are executed according to plan and is responsible for the results of all assigned projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields
  • Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments
  • Works on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features
  • Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
  • Develops new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products
  • Assists upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and correspondence
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively communicate in small group situations and one-on-one
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction
  • Ability to apply engineering concepts creatively for unique conditions not fitting neatly into given standards
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and geometry and trigonometry (as established in structural design relationships)
  • Advanced proficiency in discipline specific software such as AutoCad, Revit, RISA and Enercalc
  • Advanced proficiency in design / engineering concepts
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions through the application of structural engineering principles and practices
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required
  • Valid discipline-specific license in Virginia is required
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license is required
