Volunteer Research Position (Physiology data processing for crowd stresss study)
The Complex Systems Lab at Virginia Tech and the Virginia Affect & Interoception Lab at the University of Virginia are conducting joint research on the role of stress contagion in human crowd dynamics.
We are seeking VT undergraduate students who are interested in post-processing physiology data collected during a large experiment in Summer 2024 at the Moss Arts Center. Volunteers will receive training in processing electrocardiogram and cardiac impedance data from mobile sensors worn by participants in the crowd experiment, and will gain experience in handling large datasets and working within a large interdisciplinary research team. Volunteers are expected to commit 4-5 hours per week over the Fall 2024 semester, with the possible option to continue the position in Spring 2025.
Previous research experience is not required, but preferred. Interested students should send their resume/CV and a statement of interest to Lauren Beliveau (pqn3wv@virginia.edu) with the email subject line “VT volunteer research position” as soon as possible and by October 11, 2024 for full consideration.
