[Summer 2025] Incoming Material Quality and Reliability Department Intern

As an Incoming Material Quality and Reliability (IMQR) Intern you will be critically supporting the TSMC Arizona fab to ensure raw material quality in our world-leading manufacturing processes. All interns will be a part of a 10-week technical development program within our state-of-the-art semiconductor facilities. This program is designed to identify future engineering leaders of TSMC Arizona. The development program will offer valuable industry and functional insight. You will have the opportunity to have a mentor and learn from senior engineers and executives at the company.

Example projects include developing design of experiments (DOE) concepts to enhance raw material knowledge, examining suppliers’ metrology methods to confirm they meet TSMC requirements, and leveraging understandings of material properties to improve monitoring and ensure quality.

 

What you will learn & how you will contribute:

As an intern on the IMQR team, you will investigate material challenges alongside IMQR engineers, gaining an in-depth understanding of raw materials, quality systems, and semiconductor fabrication processes. Alongside this technical work, you will obtain experience in stakeholder management by working with internal engineers and external suppliers as you gather data, solve problems, and reconcile requests from various groups.

You will contribute your technical knowledge, positive attitude, and new ideas to IMQR’s mission to ensure TSMC Arizona’s materials excellence and continued manufacturing success.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States and have:

  • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited university, in one of the following degree programs: Masters/PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related area of study.
  • Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) on-site at our Phoenix location from May 19th, 2025 – August 1st, 2025 for semester system schools or June 16th, 2025 – August 29th, 2025 for quarter system.
  • Knowledge of materials characterization/analysis, metrology, manufacturing.
  • Understanding of data analysis, statistics, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Strong communication, computer, and presentation skills
  • Collaborative attitude and willingness to work with others as required to contribute to the team and TSMC Arizona’s culture.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 20-30 lbs, moderate amounts of walking to/from/around fab.
