Spring Co-Op - Nondestructive Inspection (NDI)

Title: Spring Co-Op – Nondestructive Inspection (NDI)

Start/End Date: January 2025 - May 2025

Location: Marietta, GA & Customers throughout the United States.

Pay Rate: $18.00/per hour. Overtime available for 40+ hour weeks

Overview: As a Co-Op on the NDI team at ATS, you will have the opportunity to partner with our team to support the NDI division. The Co-Op is going to include direct hands-on general tasks related to NDI.  Co-Ops are generally available in place of Spring or Fall semesters.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with leaders and other NDI Technicians on general tasks related to the team.
  • Opportunity to learn and apply the industry NDI methods and gain hands on experience.
  • Perform tasks as directed in order to prepare components or equipment for inspections.
  • Work alongside certified technicians to help complete projects and learn activities.
  • Interface with personnel to determine scope of work and work priorities in order to meet customer expectations.
  • Help clean and organize equipment before, during, and at the completion of projects.
  • Document on job training experience as assigned by management.
  • Perform other job related tasks as assigned by supervisors.
  • Travel/Duration: Required (1 to 6 weeks) depending on available work.
  • Schedule: Part-time. But up to 70 hours per 7-day work week.
  • Work Environment: Most work will be completed in an industrial environment including, but not limited to papermills, power generation, and manufacturing facilities.  Both classroom and hands-on NDI training provided throughout the duration of the program.

 

Work Conditions:

  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
  • Work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man-baskets, etc.
  • Work in confined spaces which will require crawling, stooping, climbing, etc.
  • Work in around operating equipment and industrial environments.
  • Work with radiation and hazardous materials such as cleaners, penetrants, film developing chemicals, etc.
  • Work shifts up to 12 hours/day and 7 days/week and travel for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.

Requirements

  • Must be a Full-time Engineering Student, ideally in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil, Structural, Material Sciences or other similar Bachelor’s program.
  • Strong interest in the NDI industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety procedures.
  • Able to travel throughout the United States.
