4Help IT Support Agent [Federal Work Study]

4Help is Virginia Tech’s primary point of contact for Information Technology assistance and we are seeking motivated students who want to help others, build a skillset in problem-solving, and improve their technical knowledge.

The mission of 4Help is to enhance teaching, learning, research, and outreach at Virginia Tech by providing centralized IT support services to affiliates through:

  • Constituent support for use of Virginia Tech Division of IT Services and Applications
  • Consultations on questions about computing devices
  • Advocacy for our constituents and departmental IT support personnel
  • Extensive online documentation provided in the Knowledge Base and Service Catalog at http://4help.vt.edu
  • Assessment and continuous improvement of User Engagement activities

While helping us achieve our mission 4Help Student Consultants, through a wide range of experiences, are provided the opportunity for hands-on Information Technology experience.

This role will provide technical skills and career-building experience which will contribute to becoming a well-rounded Virginia Tech student entering the workforce after graduation.

This position is currently 100% remote.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Must have a strong desire to help others
  • Problem-solving and research skills in both independent and collaborative environments
  • Functional knowledge of Virginia Tech services including, but not limited to, HokieSpa, Canvas, Office, Course Registration, OneCampus
  • Basic functional knowledge of Apple and/or Windows operating systems.
