Environmental Risk Intern
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Environmental Risk Summer Internship role will provide the intern with an opportunity to gain a stronger understanding of Environmental Risk Management within the Financial Services industry, with a focus on assessing potential environmental liabilities associated with real estate lending transactions.
They’ll be part of a diverse team of talented professionals who interact with senior risk team personnel, business managers and commercial real estate lenders/underwriters in order to understand business operations and dynamics, and analyze, monitor, and manage related risks. They’ll monitor activities to minimize the company's exposure to environmental and climate risk coupled with building and maintaining new processes. Activities will include quantitative analysis & communication across different functions.
This 2025 Summer Internship is for undergraduate students who have an anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and May 2026.

Essential Functions:
Some responsibilities of the Risk internship role may include but are not limited to:
- Initiate change, integration, operationalization/automation of new events.
- Execute ad hoc reporting to facilitate various reporting and status updates as needed.
- Lead, support, and develop short-term projects for related to environmental and climate risks, and ESG.
- Support the further development of environmental and climate risk due diligence.
- Researches a wide variety of topics and issues including emerging environmental risks and trends and risk management best practices; summarizes and communicates findings with team.
- Create an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion where all perspectives are valued and all people are welcomed.
- Interprets and applies procedures, ensures analysis is documented and that records are appropriately maintained.
- Adjusts risk management policies, systems, and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness within the department.
- Shares insight to causes of risk indicators and proposes recommendations to resolve or mitigate identified risks with team.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at a University or College, environmental studies/science focus preferred
- Expected graduation date between December 2025 – May 2026
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00
- Expertise in delivering high quality work products, reflecting attention to detail and analytical process
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with senior leaders across departments
- Ability to quickly grasp complex concepts, including global business and regulatory matters
- Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Self-directed, self-motivated and demonstrated experience providing ideas and solutions to further business understanding
- Ability to work in an environment that supports employees from all backgrounds and fosters an environment of inclusion.
Working Conditions:
- May be required to sit and review information on a computer screen for long periods of time
- May require repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at an electronic keyboard
- Corporate / satellite office role

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
