You’ll be joining a cohort of talented students from a variety of schools across the U.S. We hire interns into the following positions: Process Engineering, R&D, Strategic Sourcing, Technical Sales, Supply Chain, Product Marketing, Information Technology, and more. 

  

The projects we task our interns to lead are impactful and meaningful to our organization. You’ll be supported by your Manager and Mentor to gain in-depth knowledge of the adhesive industry and collaborate with various departments and functions. We also offer an established path for next-level opportunities - making this internship the starting point for a long-term career path. 

 

Internship Location: St. Paul, MN 

 

Our Internship Experience includes: 

  • 12-week paid program beginning the end of May to mid-August to gain insight and knowledge in your field.

Position Overview:

Liquid reactive adhesives are used in a variety of applications and marketing, includes electrical vehicles, aerospace, electronics, and durable goods. The manufacturing process is critical to the adhesive characteristics and performance. The intern will study on lab scale the effect of the processing techniques on the adhesive properties. Ultimately, the goal will be to correlate the lab scale results with pilot and manufacturing results. 

 

The chosen candidate will work with various liquid resins, combining them with various fillers and additives using a speed mixer and larger mixers. The mixed materials will then be tested for various properties (appearance, viscosity, gel time, shelf-life stability, adhesion). 

 

Primary Duties:  

  • Creating batches of adhesive using various mixers  
  • Characterize the adhesive produced 
  • Test the relevant performance properties of the adhesive 
  • Analyze the impact of the fillers and additives on adhesive performance  

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and/or Materials Science & Engineering.
  • Minimum one semester of organic chemistry completed. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two semesters of organic chemistry and one semester of polymer chemistry.
  • Previous experience (academic or industry) working with polymers (preferably room temperature liquid/flowable). 

 

Physical Environment: 

Working in a lab environment with fume hoods and various mixers, up to 5-gallons. 

Regularly lifting and transporting 5-gallon pails and other containers up to 50 lbs. 

 

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

 

The salary for this role is $22-$25 per hour based on major.
