Clean Vessel Act Grant Program Intern

LOCATION OF POSITION

Tawes, Anne Arundel Co. & Fieldwork throughout Maryland

Main Purpose Of Job

This position will assist the grant manager with outreach to Clean Vessel Act Grant recipients (marinas). The intern's primary responsibility will be visiting marinas across the state of Maryland to inspect grant-funded boat pumpout systems and verify compliance with grant terms and conditions. The intern will also be expected to promote the availability of pumpout grants and communicate the terms of the grant program. The internship is structured for three days per week, with each day comprising 8 hours of work, spanning a total duration of 10 weeks during the summer months.

POSITION DUTIES

 

  • Conduct site inspections of pumpout systems at marinas across the state of Maryland
  • Serve as an ambassador to the pumpout grant program - answering any questions the marina may have about our grant program while conducting the visits
  • Enter data collected into Access database and Google Sheets

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicant must be a current college student, undergraduate or graduate level. A GPA of 2.5 or above is required for academic credit. Applicants must hold a valid driver's license. Strong verbal communication skills required. Candidate must be comfortable on docks and piers at marinas to perform duties. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Boating experience is a plus. Experience and/or skills in environmental studies, communications, marine affairs, and biology, chemistry or related fields.
