Treatment Process Analysis Intern

TREATMENT PROCESS ANALYSIS INTERN
Treatment Process Division
$14-$16 per hour (DOE^) 


 

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Upper Occoquan Service Authority (UOSA) is a leader in water reclamation and a high-performance treatment facility in Northern Virginia. The organization seeks an energetic college student presently studying in the fields of Chemistry and/or Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent Engineering/Science degree) to work as a Summer Intern within the Treatment Process Division. 


DUTIES INCLUDE

The intern will be responsible for performing progressively difficult tasks, working independently as well as in conjunction with highly skilled and experienced employees. The individual will be responsible for conducting process studies, analysis of existing data, conducting field tests to measure plant performance, and performing laboratory tests associated with process chemistry. The individual will work under the guidance of the Deputy Director of Process, to gain on-the-job training.


Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office, strong skills in Microsoft Excel are required. The intern will be expected to produce one or more research reports documenting means, methods, and conclusions associated with assigned process investigations. The ability to evaluate data and prepare reports and other documentation is essential. Must be able to perform lab work with intermittent supervision and can write clear and concise technical reports.


REQUIRED, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • The individual must have the knowledge or aptitude to learn principles and practices of design, and process operation of a modern Wastewater Treatment facility. 
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position to include extensive walking, bending, stooping, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs. 
  • The possession of a driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. 

 

This is a temporary position that does not offer UOSA benefits and/or paid holidays.
