Intern - Process Development & Technology

Description:

The intern will execute and document purification of a target protein using a bench-scale process model. The purified material will be used to support pathogen safety studies.  The process model includes unit operations such as pasteurization, liquid chromatography and filtration. Retain samples will be pulled for analytical testing, if necessary, to demonstrate suitability of the test material.  The intern will maintain a laboratory notebook to capture all data and author study related documentation, as necessary, for the bench-scale purification process.  The intern will also present their work to an inter-departmental audience at the conclusion of the internship.

 

Requirements:

  • School experience: Rising undergraduate Junior or Senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioprocessing Science, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Candidate must currently have GPA of 3.00 or higher.
  • Basic skills necessary: Laboratory safety, ability to communicate effectively, ability to work under direction. Proficiency with MS Office suite programs.
  • Lab skills preferred: Maintaining a laboratory notebook, liquid chromatography, filtration and preparation of solutions and buffers.
