The Program

 

Mallinckrodt is offering an 10-12 week internship program, which provides an immersive experience in the world of pharmaceuticals. As an MNK Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful and impactful work that compliments the degree you are pursuing. Here, you will be able to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to a corporate environment. In addition, our internship program is designed to include networking opportunities across the company, professional development workshops, and community service.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our team as a summer intern within the Pharmaceutical R&D Department. With help from a mentor, the successful candidate will support/ lead the proposed research activities including reviewing relevant research articles, development of experimental plans, execution of the proposed studies, analysis of data, and summarizing and presenting the results to the group.

Responsibilities

  • Support formulation team in literature search and review scientific articles.
  • Support formulation development process by executing wet laboratory experiments under the guidance of a mentor or senior laboratory member.
  • Acquire skills in collecting and recording data, both manual and computer- generated, in accordance with protocols, and SOPs.
  • Analyze and interpret data generated from testing and characterization to create summary reports.
  • Learn and adhere to safety protocols for handling materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION:   Pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree (Master or PhD) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Biology, Biological Engineering or related discipline.

 

SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES                                           

  • Proficient in basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills and able to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.

Relationship with Others/Scope of Position

  • This position reports to the formulation scientist acting as a mentor and has no direct reports.           

 

Working Conditions:

  • Typical laboratory and office environment
  • Role is on-site 5 days/week
