Environmental Scientist Intern

Salary Range: $19.00 To 22.00 Hourly

ABOUT THE JOB

As an Environmental Scientist Intern, you will be responsible for supporting inspections and sampling of suspected contamination at various client facilities nationwide.  Prior experience conducting sampling is not required. While scientist is not traveling, activities will include assisting project manager and other environmental scientists on data and database quality reviews. Database work may include scientific analysis of technical reports, collection of data from technical reports, and adding data to a database. This internship is a paid opportunity for a duration of 10-12 weeks. The work schedule will be approximately 40 hours a week dependent on workload and your school schedule.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Performs sampling at client locations nationwide.
  • Collects samples to submit to laboratories.
  • Completes chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Creates inspection reports including inspection activities performed and sample results.
  • Prepares draft technical reports.
  • Direct interaction with client at client sites.
  • Provides support activities such as review of environmental technical reports, summarizing data from technical reports, updating database.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Studies, chemistry, or related field (preferred)
  • Applicant must be within two years of completing degree.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong, organizational, problem solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
