Nauticus Summer Camp Assistant Intern (Summer, 2024)

An intern in this position will assist Sail Nauticus and Nauticus Program Educators by guiding children through Design. Build. Sail. Summer Camp activities (on Schooner Virginia, sail boats, and in exhibit space), helping with camp preparation, leading and delivering camp programs, interacting with and supervising children, working with summer camp volunteers, and more.  

-Volunteers should have an interest in science and/or education.

-Experience working with children in a formal or informal setting.

-Must feel comfortable working around, on, or in the water.

-Must have capacity to withstand working in varying temperatures

-Be energetic and flexible.

-Effective communication skills in a camp environment and the ability to interact positively with children are essential for this position.

-Additional requirements: The ability to stoop, bend, squat, lift, climb, and stand for extended amounts of time is required. Must have clear speaking voice and ability to carry camp supplies/equipment (weight of 5-50 lbs).

-First Aid/CPR/AED certified is preferred. 

Nauticus Internships are voluntary, non-paid positions with no expectations of compensation. 

4 Summer Camp Assistants Needed- 2 Morning; 2 Afternoon per Week

Dates: June 24-August 16, 2024 (no camp July 1-5, 22-26)

Times: Mondays-Fridays; AM Shifts: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Service Hours: Up to 40 hours/week

Training will be provided prior to start of camp.
