Summary of Internship

This internship position provides an opportunity for hands on experience with the Thermo Fisher Scientific Cell Biology R&D team responsible for identifying and developing novel technologies, generating application data, and supporting marketing initiatives. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cell culture and experience with culturing a variety of cell lines and/or primary cells. The ideal candidate will also have familiarity with handling primary tissue and evaluating cells by microscopy, flow cytometry, Western blot, gene expression, or similar techniques. An innovative and curious mindset, attention to detail, and ability to multitask while maintaining a results-oriented focus are essential. The candidate will receive training and valuable experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain mammalian cell cultures, including thawing, passaging, expanding, and cell banking
  • Characterize active cultures by microscopy, flow cytometry, or next-generation sequencing
  • Carry out crucial lab duties including preparation of media and reagents, maintenance lab supplies, and support of other functions in Cell Biology
  • Compile and analyze data
  • Prepare and present experimental summaries
  • Conduct scientific research individually and as part of cross-functional development teams
  • Maintain accurate lab notebooks and training files in accordance with relevant Thermo Fisher Scientific standards

Keys to Success:

Education

·High school diploma or equivalent required.

·Enrolled in undergraduate program studying Life Science, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Science, or equivalent degree.
