Spectrum Dominance Division assistant

Purpose/role of the position within the organization: support team executing sponsored research activities for the DoD/IC.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose/role:

  • Support execution team in day-to-day logistics of sponsored research, including planning travel, hosting customers, scheduling resources, and ordering materials
  • Assist with maintaining and building out the Hokie Shack (an on-site prototyping hardware inventory)
  • Depending on interests and capabilities, support elements of technical writing, research proposal development, graphic design, instrumentation of test & measurement facilities (antenna range, wireless testing), and/or other research activities.
  • Opportunities for hands-on research on projects

Qualifications for the position

  • U.S. citizen for access to the lab facilities
  • Interest in supporting national security
  • Diligence and willingness to learn
  • Preference towards ECE/CS/Math majors, but open to other STEM majors, business, graphic design, and non-STEM majors with technical writing experience.

Rate of pay for the position*: $15.00/hour  

Work Schedule: flexible

Employment Start Date: 1 / 2 /2024

Employment End Date: 5 / 14 / 2024 (open to summers and multi-year if performance is positive)
