POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will support the Engineering Structures Team by performing tasks as directed by department structural engineering professionals.  The intern will have the opportunity to assist in field inspection and rating of bridges and structures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•    Search for, and file, drawings and documents in the department document library.
•    Perform minor design and drafting.
•    Edit, revise, and publish the written construction project specifications manual.
•    Revise and publish scopes of work.
•    Manage department master specifications library.
•    Assist in document reproduction.
•    Perform calculations for review and approval by a professional.
•    Assist with correspondence.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution. 
•    Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Civil Engineering (Structures or Construction Management)
•    Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum. 
•    Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•    At least 3 years of academic undergraduate studies completed or a senior status.
•    Strong PC skills, especially Microsoft Office applications.
•    Ability to work 40 hours per week, M-F between 7/8am - 4/5pm.

 

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills


The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc.  In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
 

Please be advised that the Summer 2024 internship program will run from May 20th - August 9th.
