Engineering Co-op | Semiconductor Tech (Summer 2024)

A semiconductor technician able to run loosely defined processes that have undergone Proof of Concept in order to provide feedback to process and design engineers. This position is a hands-on position in the lab, 20-40 hours a week for a 6-month period and involves a good portion of time working with other engineers to improve processes, collect and report data, discuss failures and possible design and/or process changes. Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity as part of a project team. Works under only general direction. Independent judgment and ingenuity are used to develop solutions. Seeks input from more senior staff for unusual challenges.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand process documents attached to the company’s products.
  • Produce prototypes to flesh out new processes and document the process for verification.
  • Review experiments Engineering, execute and write up data set.
  • Able to Run Most of the Following Processes (for R&D Support and Manufacturing Support)
    • Deposition and Evaporation processes common to the semiconductor field
    • Dry and Wet Etching on semiconductor wafer materials
    • Various Masking processes
    • SEM, AFM, Ellipsometry, Particulate analysis and metrology
  • Experience or familiarity with the following machines and their value add: Ultra-High Vacuum Systems, 3D Printing, PECVD, Sputter, other Deposition machines (ALD), Mask Aligners, Dicing, Bonding, general cleanroom environments.

Education Requirements:

  • Current enrollment Junior (3rd) or Senior (4th) year in bachelor's program in EE, ME, Physics, Chemistry, or related Engineering equivalent; or EET.

Preferred

  • Preferred – current graduate student in STEM.   

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • 0-2 years minimum experience in the MEMs, Micro/Nano Fabrication or Semiconductor field.
  • Basic understanding of optical imaging systems, RF module integration & test, and other engineering disciplines (electronics, test, mechanics, FEA, thermal, safety)
  • Excellent communication skills with multi-disciplinary engineering team and government customers
  • Proficient written (reports, proposals, white papers) and verbal skills (technical presentations)

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience and/or academic interest in design and development of visible light cameras
  • Experience and/or in Silicon molding/assembly
  • Experience with and/or academic interest in integration & testing of Electro-Optical imaging systems
  • Experience working within the defense industry and delivering solutions to the appropriate standards.
