Engineering Intern, Augusta
In a Covestro Engineering Internship you’ll work closely with some of the industry’s best and brightest managers, chemists, and engineers in Covestro.
You will learn about Covestro products, which can include their chemistry, applications, end uses, customer base, and future business opportunities. You will get a hands-on experience in a chemical plant environment, as well as an up-close view of our technical and commercial operations. You will be able to apply your knowledge and education to chemical plant operations and solve real world problems. In our high performance coatings entity, opportunities abound for complex projects that let you be creative and imaginative yet analytical and precise.
You’ll contribute to ongoing projects, getting an intimate look at how Covestro identifies customer needs and keeps the flow of new and established products moving through the marketplace. The internship program will begin in mid-May of 2024, and lasts approximately 12 weeks.
Some responsibilities within a technical based internship at Covestro includes small capital projects, plant trials for process optimization, process troubleshooting to improve efficiencies and cost position.
The selected individual will have the opportunity to work with operators, chemists and engineers in a fast-paced environment and become actively involved in internal projects related to plant design and plant improvement project / Activities.
Basic Qualifications
- Enrollment in a Bachelor degree program with a focus in one of the following majors: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM degrees
- Completion of Freshman year
- Willingness and ability to be placed in any of the aforementioned internship opportunities
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of Sophomore year
- Prior internship/work experience
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated PC skills and ability to work within Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel
- Basic understanding of statistics, computer operations, process control and engineering principles.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to interact and establish strong working relationships with diverse individuals
- Project coordination with the ability to be proactive and identify creative, effective technical solutions
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
