Technology Development Program - Cybersecurity Engineer Development Track

GEICO’s Cybersecurity team is seeking high-performing, creative tech college graduates for our Cybersecurity track within our Technology Development Program (CDP). As a part of our CDP, you will join a two-year cohort with an embedded support structure, learning and development journey, and community to accelerate your career and prepare you for success within Cybersecurity. You are a full-time associate from day one; your experience across the two years will be diverse and full of learning opportunities!
We’ll support your professional development while you gain real, hands-on technical experience. You have the option to learn the following Cybersecurity concepts: Security Engineering, Risk Management, Threat Intel, Incident Response, Insider Threat, Data Protection, Privacy, Compliance, and soft skills. As part of the program, you will also receive mentoring from leadership and peers to jumpstart your career. You can take advantage of GEICO’s education benefits to pursue certifications or graduate studies.
In the Cybersecurity Engineer Development track, depending on the specific areas you rotate through, you have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of how our multi-billion-dollar company uses cybersecurity technologies to protect, detect, prevent, and respond to threats:
Monitor and troubleshoot cybersecurity infrastructure within GEICO’s enterprise to ensure GEICO is protected
Support various processes that govern secure practice within the enterprise while meeting with various stakeholders at all levels
Attend design/architecture reviews and learn best practices as they pertain to GEICO’s cybersecurity standards
Assist in creating and maintaining privacy related notices, policies, standards, guidelines, and processes
Conduct Security Assessments (for Risk, Privacy, and Data), review results and work with stakeholders to define mitigation plans
Support the development and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, standards, and guidelines
Support projects and assist with creating technical documentation as it relates to changes to processes or technology
Assist in deploying cybersecurity products and services in a challenging environment where priorities shift quickly
Engage in cross-functional collaboration across the Cybersecurity pillars
Contribute to valuable Cybersecurity initiatives and give presentations to peers and all levels of management
Examine data collected from a variety of tools and sources (e.g., IDS alerts, firewall logs, web logs, network traffic logs) to identify IOCs and/or malicious TTPs
Analyze events that occur within their environments for the purposes of mitigating threats
Perform routine operational tasks to ensure availability while maintaining least privilege, privileged access management, just in time access, etc.
Assist in maintaining Identity Management systems and provide escalation support for system issues, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution
Collaborate with engineers on Identity Governance initiatives and service offerings
Assist in performing technical threat/risk and vulnerability assessments and manage vulnerabilities through their lifecycle
Candidate Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or other relevant engineering major, obtained by May 2024
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (please upload ALL transcripts as part of the application process)
Advanced coursework and hands-on experience in cybersecurity, network management, systems administration, risk management, enterprise defense, technical documentation, and troubleshooting
Hands-on experience with at least one scripting language such as Python, Bash or Perl
Strong foundation in data structures and core security concepts
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal English communication skills
Basic understanding of existing Operational Portals such as Azure Portal
Basic understanding of HTML-5, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, JSON, and RESTful Web Services
Basic understanding of Monitoring Tools and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
Basic understanding of scripting
Well-rounded experiences outside of the classroom with different technologies, resulting in projects that demonstrate strong engineering skills and abilities
Ability to understand security control mechanisms for Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems
Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and concepts (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, etc.)
Previous professional internship focused on hands-on cybersecurity work preferred
Passion for Cybersecurity
Program associates will primarily work remotely but will be asked to visit GEICO office locations for team collaboration events as needed.
Candidate will participate in a technical skills assessment and multi-dimensional interviews as part of the selection process.

Annual Salary
$60,000.00 - $157,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
