Fall Co-op/Environment, Health, & Safety
Department Description:
The Fall Co-op student will help support and learn from a variety of environment, health, and safety professionals with subject matter expertise in fields including chemistry, biology, process safety, machinery safety, PPE, industrial hygiene, radiation safety, etc. The R&D EHS group mission is to provide health, resilient, high performing workplace with zero harm while respecting people and the planet.
Job Description:
The R&D EHS Co-op will support Environment, Health, & Safety department at Upper Merion and Upper Providence R&D sites. The position will assist staff on various projects which may include:
- Hazardous agents program improvement objective for 2023.
- Develop EHS Performance dashboards.
- Partnering with EHS Operations for GSK Rebranding efforts.
- EHS workplace risk assessments.
- IH Monitoring to support GSK's Respirator Free Goals.
- Sound level surveys and personal noise dosimetry.
- IH assessments in support of new R&D campaigns and energy conservation efforts.
- IAQ, water infiltration, mold prevention assessments.
- Seasonal environmental reporting, i.e., Tier II, Title V, compliance history reporting, wastewater, etc.
- Sustainability and biodiversity activities.
- EHS training revisions or leading training sessions.
- Safety inspections along with R&D representatives.
- Emergency Response Drills and training.
- X-Ray and other radiation surveys.
Basic Qualifications:
- Pursing a BS, MS, or PhD degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or similar disciplines.
- Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 12-week internship.
- Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have completed EHS related coursework or certifications such as First Aid training, OSHA certifications, etc.
Benefits:
- While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.
