Intern - GIS (Utility/Water & Sewer)

The City of Manassas invites applications for an internship opportunity with our Water & Sewer Department at the Manassas Water Plant.

This internship focuses primarily on GIS Operations within our Water and Sewer Department, reviewing site plans, tracking inventory project progress, and uploading data to our systems.

Flexible Summer schedule Monday through Friday at 30 hours per week. The internship is projected to begin the last week of May.  

Essential Job Functions:
Assists with planning of capital projects including field investigation, reviewing engineering plans, reviewing property records, and developing scopes of work.

Assists in review of site and subdivision plans; reviews site plans to check for plumbing materials.

Reviews and edits City GIS records.

Updates the Lead Service Line Database.

Tracks progress on the completion of the Lead Service Line Inventory on both public and private side.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
The candidate must be currently enrolled in a college or graduate level science curriculum with successful completion of GIS and/or Engineering courses. Must have experience in using Microsoft Office software, ArcGIS. Must also have the ability to follow department safety regulations, guidelines, and practices. Incumbent must have a valid Virginia driver's license.
