Co-op, Analytical Biochemistry

Summary: 
 
This application is for a 6-month student role from July - December 2023. Resume review begins in January 2023. 
 
We are seeking an enthusiastic scientist to join our analytical biochemistry team in the Biotherapeutics and Medicinal Sciences Department as a full-time co-op student for 6 months. Co-op students will work on a variety of experimental modalities, including antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs), gene therapy, and biological therapies. A candidate must have a passion for protein science, be capable of developing advanced analytical methods, and be willing to take on challenging tasks. 
 
Position Description: 
 
The co-op student will work closely with our biological drug discovery team as part of the analytical biochemistry group. 
 
Primary responsibilities: 
  • Using HDX MS method to study protein-protein interactions, structural conformational changes of AAV capsid proteins, and mapping of epitopes and paratopes 
  • Developing LC-MS methods for characterizing ASOs 
 
Qualifications: 
 
  • Experience in protein mass spectrometry and knowledge about protein structure and biology as pluses 
  • Experience in LC-MS analysis, HDX preferred. 
  • Strong analytical capability and problem-solving ability 
  • Passionate about learning and taking on new challenges 
  • Strong collaborator and team player 
 
To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: 
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. 
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date 
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university 
 
Education: 
 
  • The position requires a B.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related fields. Ph.D or M.S. candidate is preferred.
