The intern, depending on education level, will perform chemical analyses using a variety of analytical instrumentation available at the HSI Forensic Laboratory. Under the guidance of a mentor the intern will have opportunity to perform a variety of laboratory techniques using established technologies, and where appropriate, evaluate research results, perform statistical analyses on data, and prepare written manuscripts for internal review and potential publication in peer-reviewed journals.  
Pursuing a BS in physical sciences with preference for chemistry or forensic chemistry. Post-grad candidates pursuing an advanced degree in analytical chemistry/forensic chemistry or related physical science. Some experience through lab practical exercises is preferred.
The intended project will involve the chemical analysis of items related to security documents – substrate and/or print.  

Interns may be provided a rotational exposure to forensic document examination, finger mark examination, and or other services provided by the HSI Forensic lab.
