Data Analyst Intern

The Summer 2023 Internship Program will start with 2 weeks of part time hours (20 hrs/week) from Monday, May 22 through Friday, June 2. The remainder of the program will be full time hours (40 hrs/week) from Monday, June 5 through Friday, August 4.
We are seeking a Data Analytics Intern to join the Total Rewards and Operations team! You will have the opportunity to develop a full end-to-end data tool that extracts US Census data to benchmark against New Relic DE&I initiatives and the tech industry.
What you'll do
  • Lead and own the development of a product that will incorporate into our DE&I initiatives
  • Understand how teams use data in order to make informed decisions
  • Develop ETL processes and provide inputs on our current data infrastructure
  • Develop expertise in data visualization and storytelling
  • Support the team with answering basic ad-hoc questions
  • Develop skills on a scripting language (Python/R), while working and learning about using APIs
  • Learn automation by deploying the tool in a cloud environment (AWS)
  • Write documentation on how to use the data tool for future maintenance by the People Analytics team
This role requires
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program with an expected graduation date between December 2023-June 2026
  • Reproducible data analysis experience through coursework projects or work experience (i.e. GitHub, etc.)
  • Coding experience in Python or R, primarily used as a data analysis language (pandas, dplyr, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain “what it is,” “why it matters,” and “what should we do,” in terms of your data and analysis to a non-technical audience
  • Track record of working independently, with strong time-management and organizational skills
Bonus points if you have
  • Experience working with APIs
  • Understanding of how to use data analysis packages/libraries, preferably in R/Python
  • Familiarity with cloud-native databases, preferably Snowflake or Airflow
  • Technical skills: R, Python, SQL, BI Tools (Looker/Google Data Studio, Tableau, PowerBI, Shiny, Git)
