Job Description Summary
Technical Research Interns are the pipeline for the Edison Program in Research and Development. The Edison Program is an intensive development role for those with a passion for technology, a drive for technical excellence, and a shared appreciation for GE's values of humility, transparency, and focus.
Job Description
GE has announced plans to create separate research centers enabling industry focus, speed and accountability to meet the specific company missions. In alignment with this, most internship assignments Summer 2023 will be oriented toward the energy and aviation industries.
At GE Research, scientists, engineers and technicians work to provide GE's businesses and strategic partners with technical innovations for their future generation products, processes and services. An internship with us will help you gain valuable hands-on experience and get a critical jump start on your career in industrial research.
Assignments are generally for 10-12 weeks over the summer; working side by side with experts in the field, completing challenging technical projects, applying their theoretical knowledge to real-life technical problems, and developing skills in a cutting-edge global environment. Summer 2023 internship assignments will align with research efforts benefiting the energy and aerospace industries.
The program also includes seminars on energy & aerospace technology and soft skills & leadership development. Interns will have opportunities to network across GE Research and showcase their project accomplishments.
Applicable Majors include:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Materials Science & Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Computer Science and related fields
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Current or upcoming enrollment in a full-time Master’s Degree program at an accredited university
- Minimum GPA 3.0 / 4.0 scale
- Permanent Legal authorization to work in the US. GE will only employ those who are permanently legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Candidates must not require work authorization sponsorship now or in the future.
- Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
