Material Engineering Co-op

BAE Systems is looking for a Material Engineer with a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of an innovative, dedicated team responsible for industry-leading Global Positioning Systems (GPS) products. Our team needs engineers interested in hands on experience working in a Material and Component Evaluation lab. This position offers abundant opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of materials used in electronic assemblies, techniques used for failure analysis/evaluation and work in a team environment.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.
Assignments may include tasks such as obtaining dimensional measurements of parts, XRF analysis, cross-sectioning, using Ion Chromatography equipment, failure analysis of electronic parts or assemblies and evaluating new processes. The successful applicant should be knowledgeable of lab practices and basic lab equipment.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Degree in Material, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Applicant must be pursuing a STEM degree in an applicable engineering or science field.
  • US Citizenship
  • Sophomore or Junior year of college
  • Root cause analysis experience

  • Prefer a degree in Material Engineering
