Skyworks AIS Digital Physical Design Summer 2023 Intern


Job Description

Skyworks AI Solutions is at the forefront of audio and voice technology innovation with our analog system on chips (ASoCs). Our ASoCs provide key technologies for consumer audio and gaming products in applications such as smart speakers & microphones, wired & wireless headsets, virtual assistants and gaming controllers. We are continuously growing our team to develop market specific ASoCs which combine breakthrough ultra-low power analog circuits, highly efficient power management, DSP, custom hardware accelerators for smart acoustic signal processing and AI enabled audio features.


Position Summary

This position is for an electrical engineer interested in Digital Physical Design (PD) tools, flows and methodologies for mixed-signal CMOS ASOCs. You can expect to gain familiarity with many aspects of the PD flow in a focused and collaborative environment. You will be able to take pride in your work on products that will be available to consumers worldwide. This position will be based out of our Hillsboro, Oregon office.


Your Role

You will be responsible for the development and verification of PD flows to support the physical design team in utilizing the cutting-edge features embedded in the latest industry standard toolsets employed in all stages of the physical design flow. In doing so, you will get a wide exposure to the tools and flows used in digital and mixed-signal physical design as well as contributing to flow improvements that cover a broad range of requirements within the physical design team.


Qualification & Education Requirements

  • Current student studying Electrical engineering.
  • Able to temporarily relocate for full time work during the period of the internship.
  • Knowledge and some hands-on experience of typical digital tool flows from RTL to GDS2. Some mixed-signal knowledge would also be preferred.


Preferred Skills

Familiarity with digital tool flows, specifically Cadence Genus/Innovus. Experience with a Linux environment, TCL scripting, Python programming and data analysis will also help make you an effective contributor.


Job Requirements

  • Current student studying Electrical engineering.
  • Must be local student, or be able to temporarily relocate to work full-time hours.
  • Familiarity with ASIC physical design tools, TCL, Perl, Verilog and Python.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel and Word) and have an aptitude for quickly learning other company specific software.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and dynamic and love challenges. Ability to take ownership and ask for help when needed.
  • Must have strong time management skills
  • Good communication, organization, and documentation skills
