Business Development Intern

Avid Technology Professionals, LLC (ATP) is a growing IT services company based in Columbia, Maryland. ATP works with a number of Fortune 500 companies in support of contracts for key federal government agencies. ATP is a growth-oriented business that is looking for a motivated, well-rounded individual with strong problem-solving capabilities who can independently make a substantial and positive impact for the company.
 
Working in our dynamic, fast-paced environment, the individual selected will be mentored and involved in the various aspects of our business development, marketing, and recruiting efforts.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
·        Manage and utilize company social media accounts on various social media platforms to include but not limited to: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
·        Manage and utilize additional web-based business applications
·        Learn the basics of business development and high-level marketing strategies for an IT services firm
·        Conduct background research, data gathering and analysis, and social media assessments of potential clients and candidates
·        Assist with sourcing of hard-to-find, sought-after, highly technical candidates for open Company positions
·        Reach out to potential clients and candidates via phone and email; also maintain contact to support any follow up activities
·        Contribute to opportunity assessments to determine fit with corporate capabilities
·        Support additional projects involving new business development initiatives and business plan development
·        Support the business development team in creating business/marketing presentations, proposals, and materials
·        Assist with other growth- and/or team-related assignments and tasks, as necessary
·        Function as a ‘Technical Sales Rep’ by supporting the business development team by working on customer focused activities including:
o  Helping to market ATP technical services to ATP partners / current & future clients
o  Analyzing ATP client needs and come with up with recommendations for useful products/services
o  Explaining and pitching IT concepts to ATP current / future clients and explaining technical concepts simply
o  Writing reports and proposals for vendors or clients related to technical products or services
o  Finding new customers and creating a sales relationship with potential buyer
o  Building relationships with potential clients so that they become a long-term client
o  Connecting with customers after a sales pitch to answer questions or provide advice
o  Making sales pitches at demonstrations or conference events to persuade an audience to buy an item or service
o  Meeting sale quotas and commission goals
o  Travel to meet with vendors or to lead instructional demonstrations for a product or service
o  Negotiating prices with customers
o  Tracking sales and sharing sales information with a manager or team lead
·        Researching the current market trends and learning about new technology products and services
 
Qualifications and Traits Desired:
·        Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, government customers and representatives, company management, company staff, and potential candidates, both orally and in writing
·        Ability to communicate in a professional manner with sponsors, customers and community contacts.
·        Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possessing good organization skills, ability to prioritize, and ability to multi-task
·        Ability to analyze data, research, and display results
·        Ability to work independently utilizing critical thinking skills and research to meet company objectives, as well as the ability to work with a team to meet those objectives
·        Ability to think critically and decisively and take on tasks independently
·        Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
·        Ability to think outside of the box
·        Strong research capabilities, coupled with the ability to write clearly and persuasively
·        Ability to communicate in a professional manner with the corporate leadership team as well as potential clients and vendors
·        Strong skills with Office tools to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel and the rest of the Suite
 

Other qualifications:
Three or more years of college or college graduate with a GPA of 3.2 desired
Must be United States Citizen

Location: This job is work from home. There may be occasional travel within the USA for this job supported by ATP. ATP is located Columbia, MD (outside Washington DC)
