Seagate Storage controller Engineer - Summer Intern (Emerging Products and Solutions)

Location:  Longmont, CO, US

About our group:

Join a global team of developers in the Emerging Products and Solutions (EPS) group that focus on implementing a software stack for our RAID storage controller integrated in Seagate systems products. We are a team within Systems Data Storage chartered with delivering firmware and software stack for Storage RAID controllers across Seagate systems product lines and applications. This position is with the Storage Controller (SC) Backend team, which deals with handling of the SAS map, SCSI error handling and enclosure management including interfacing with expanders through SCSI Enclosure Services (SES) commands. The Backend team works on the front lines of new enclosure development and also in integrating unique Seagate drive technology into our RAID enclosure systems.


About the role - you will:

In this role, you will have an opportunity to develop a wide range of embedded software for RAID controllers. Your work will include development of the code which interfaces with other components such as drives, expanders, RAID, IO Controller (IOC), platform, and the Management Controller (MC).. You will participate in on-going code reviews to improve software stability and security. You will work on new designs for new software solutions and customer features. You will also get an opportunity to contribute to Seagate’s various research driven open source projects and learn new technologies.

Your experience includes:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent and enrolled in Fall 2022 courses.
  • oursework in Embedded Systems and Operating Systems.
  • Experience designing and developing complex multi-threaded applications.
  • Object oriented programming (OOP)
  • Gitlab, Github remote repository management and open-source project contribution.
  • Windows and Linux development environments (Linux drivers).
  • Agile Methodology.
  • Strong C/C++ programming experience.
  • Python scripting or programming.
  • Knowledge of Storage (SAS) or network protocols.
  • Knowledge of RAID arrays and Fault tolerant systems is a plus.
  • Multi-threaded RTOS knowledge and experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with Network protocols: Telnet, FTP, HTTP.
 
Colorado's 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we inform you of the estimated base hourly range for this position: $18 – $24.50. Actual range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
