About our group:
Seagate is looking for an intern to be located in our Shakopee Design Center in Minnesota. This intern will work with world class scientists and engineers at Seagate Research in the Twin Cities area innovating and pushing the boundaries in the area of system & software engineering.
About the role - you will:
Work with a highly motivated research team push data systems to their limit measuring peak performance and analyzing bottlenecks. Enhance popular Linux file systems to utilize cutting edge storage devices. Contribute to existing open source storage projects.
About you:
- Student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Engineering/Science or relevant area
- User level experience with developing software using common Linux tools
- Read, navigate and modify C/C++ following best practices
- Experience with one or more higher level programming language (Go, python, etc.)
- Takes things apart just to know how they work
- Thrives in a self directed environment seeking and solving complex problems
Your experience includes:
- Build and performance tuned Linux based computers from bare-metal
- Knowledge storage interfaces such as SATA/SAS/NVMe/PCIe
- Experimented with one or more Experience with Cloud Native Technologies (Projects in Linux Foundation CNCF)

Our Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe – it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well. With wide-open spaces, the campus has plenty of space for running, biking, shooting some hoops or playing volleyball over lunch.
