Senior Internships at D. E. Shaw Research - Computational Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Drug Discovery)

D. E. Shaw Research seeks early-career scientists and engineers to join our New York–based team as summer interns. Roles are available for applicants of varied backgrounds and experience levels, from sophomores in college to graduate students. Successful candidates will have impressive records of academic achievement in the natural sciences and/or scientific software development.

D. E. Shaw Research is pursuing long-term projects aimed at fundamentally transforming the process of drug discovery. Our group has shed new light on biomolecular phenomena such as protein folding, protein dynamics, and protein-drug interactions by directing unprecedented computational power toward the solution of key problems in the fields of biomolecular simulation and design.

Interns spend 12-15 weeks working closely with members of our chemistry and/or software teams on a substantial research project. Past interns have contributed to projects that have spanned the scientific interests of our group, including developing simulation methods and tools, studying the structure and function of particular proteins by using our ANTON® supercomputers, developing the underlying physical models for our simulations, and applying machine learning techniques to our areas of research. Throughout the summer, interns are invited to participate in a seminar series led by members of our technical team and in lively social programming. We provide our interns with above-market compensation and a generous housing allowance.

If you are interested in exploring groundbreaking research topics with the mentorship of our world-class, interdisciplinary team of biologists, chemists, and computer scientists, please use the link below to submit your application materials: (We accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the calendar year)
