Seagate Intern - Optical Engineering - Summer 2022

About our group:

Seagate is looking for an Optical Engineering intern who will report to the Wafer Process Engineering group at Seagate's Recording Head Operations located in Bloomington, MN.
 

About the role - you will:

This internship position will involve process optimization of laser light paths and optical systems in a thin film HAMR recording head.  HAMR is the future of HDD recording and is enabled by an integrated laser that is used to energize a plasmonic near-field transducer. Candidate will be able to record and assemble data, analyze and interpret results, and to prepare and deliver presentations explaining these results to engineers and managers.
 

About you:

  • Current student pursuing a BS or MS degree in Physics, Lasers / Optics, or a relevant Engineering degree.
  • Some experience with characterization of lasers and/or optical systems is preferred.

Our Normandale campus spans two suburbs, Edina and Bloomington, and serves as the Recording Head development and manufacturing arm of Seagate.
