About our group:
Seagate is seeking to hire a Mechanical Design Intern in the Mechanical Technology Development organization to develop new head mechanical systems. This position will be located in Bloomington, MN at Seagate's Recording Head Operations research and development facility.
About the role - you will:
You will be assigned to work on a variety of mechanical engineering projects (not limited to design, testing, metrology etc.) related to the development of head gimbal assemblies and microactuator designs for future product requirements. Most projects are in the discipline of mechanical structural dynamics, however there are large overlap and interaction with other disciplines, such as control systems, tribology, statics et. al.
About you:
- Student pursuing a MS or PhD degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences, Physics or related discipline, solid academic background and fundamentals in your core major, preferably with specialization in mechanical dynamics systems and statics, with strong design and analysis acumen.
- Knowledge of Finite Element Modeling methods and Dynamics of mechanical systems. Experienced using commercial finite element modeling with software tools.
- Experienced using software such as LabView, Matlab, JMP to acquire and analyze data from laboratory experiment, are an added advantage.
- Knowledge and experience in six sigma principles are an added advantage.
- Strong communication skills.
