Job Description

We are seeking great teammates, consensus builders, and problem solvers to supervise and lead maintenance groups on the manufacturing floor. We are driven by excellence, ingenuity, and innovation and each of us takes accountability for results. As a Maintenance Group Leader, you will have accountabilities with leading groups of mechanical and electrical trades who are responsible for supporting production, preforming repairs and doing project work. You will build and develop standardized work for repairs and maintenance work.  
 
Responsible for the supervision of GM-UAW skilled trades employees supporting various operations. Potential opening may be on any shift and may require overtime as needed.  
·        Lead timekeeping for GM-UAW trades 
·        Own the Troubleshooting and repair of complex machinery and presses 
·        Plan maintenance activities 
·        Support or lead Throughput Improvement Process (TIP) and Continuous Improvement Process activities 
·        Work with mentor to become familiar with Plant and Corporate policies and processes
·        Communicates and coordinates information to and from internal and external customers 
·        Setup Spare parts and order material as needed 
·        Develop and implement safety pre-task plans 
·        Support Work Place Safety Systems 
·        Understand and participate in the implementation of GMS 
·        Understand and work with the UAW 


Qualifications  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week 
  • Understanding of complex engineering theory and principles of mechanical and electrical mechanisms  
  • Willing to work in a plant environment 
  • Graduating between Spring/Summer 2021
Desired Characteristics  
  • Ability to read, understand and solve electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic prints and equipment 
  • Proficient in SAP/procuring parts 
  • Experience using Maximo 
  • Prior internship experience in automotive, technology, or manufacturing  
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed 
  • Demonstrates leadership in field of study, extra-curricular activities or service organizations 
  • Strong leadership skills, to guide project teams through planning, execution and insight phases  
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, especially the ability to synthesize large amounts of data involving multiple variables into comprehensive, impactful insights  
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, leading deliverables and goals  
  • Willingness to ask questions, take initiative and be resourceful  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill sophisticated subjects to a wider audience 
  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a rapidly moving environment 
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed 
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust 
  • Deliver new and creative solutions to complex problems
