Job Description

In our pursuit to create a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion, GM’s Global Manufacturing Engineering team is challenging the limits on what is possible and embracing agility as it reimagines how to build the next generation of vehicles. Our diverse team of Manufacturing Engineers play a crucial role in transforming our facilities through implementing the adoption of ground-breaking technologies. From raw sheet metal to final assembly, this team is reinventing the tools and processes that will enable GM to deliver on our promise to create an all-electric future.
As a Conveyor Execution Engineer/Tooling Installation Engineer you will assist in the development of the statement of requirements, and assist in execution of conveyors / process equipment installation in various Manufacturing Centers.  You will be exposed to all areas for Conveyor and Installation Execution activities across all ME Centers (Body, Paint and GA).
Creativity and initiative are key characteristics of this position.  Conveyor or Installation Suppliers will work directly for you/your manager and you/your manager will be directly responsible for all aspects of their work, including safety, schedule, and cost. Your supervisor will be the main point of contact for these items.
Common Job Tasks
  • Assists in generating technical solutions for current, new and major vehicle programs
  • Provides some technical leadership for the Supplier
  • Estimates the value of the work
  • Assists in developing engineering designs (including subsystems)
  • Implements engineering changes
  • Assists in defining construction requirements
  • Assists in developing Installation SOR (Statement of Requirements)
  • Solves engineering related problems and manages implementation
  • Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support build programs
  • Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations
  • Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering, such as manufacturing, GM Centers, IE, Layout team and Material
  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
  • Travels as required (50%+ of this job will be travel)
  • Develops and tracks progress to schedule
  • Supports debug and validation at the ME Center
  • Ability for extended durations of travel as required in North America
  • Ability to support all shifts and holidays
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas of study: Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Safety, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Production Engineering, or Robotics
  • Graduated in Spring/Summer 2021
  • Willing to work in a plant environment
  • Able to work fulltime, minimum 40 hours per week
Location: Warren, MI - However, extensive and frequent travel may be required.
