Job Description

This is a remote position, the selected candidate can reside and perform the work from anywhere within the United States.
Spring/Summer 2021 Internship
The Market Research Intern will report to a leader in Global Market Research, a part of GM’s Global Portfolio Planning Staff. The mission of Global Market Research is to help our internal clients gain a deep understanding of the customer needs and desires, the societal and technology trends, and the marketplace forces crafting the future of mobility, to build exciting and innovative vehicles and services, and effectively market them around the globe.
Our culture is to pursue facts, respectfully challenge assumptions, and clearly define objectives. In this internship, you will experience the satisfaction of applying multiple research methodologies to inform real-world decisions and of seeing a market research project through – from start to finish! Working with the Market Research Manager, you will assist in the project framing, questionnaire and sample frame development, logistics and planning, study execution, data analysis, report writing and presentation of findings – including to Executive Leadership.


Additional Job Description

Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Market Research or related field
  • GPA 3.5 or higher out of 4.0
  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week
  • Demonstrates leadership in field of study, extra-curricular activities or service organizations

Desired Skills:

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
  • Basic knowledge of Marketing Research
  • Strong leadership skills, to guide project teams through planning, execution and insight phases
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to synthesize large amounts of data involving multiple variables into comprehensive, impactful insights
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing results and goals
  • Willingness to ask questions, take initiative and be resourceful and inventive
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill sophisticated subjects to a wider audience
  • Emerging partnership and collaboration skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a rapidly moving environment
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust
  • Deliver new and creative solutions to sophisticated problems

The median level of the monthly salary compensation for this role is $4500 dependent upon class status and degree. Benefit options are not available for this role.
