Job Description

Spring/Summer 2021 Internship
This is a remote position, the selected candidate can reside and perform the work from anywhere within the United States.
General Purpose of Position 
Working with the GM Color & Trim team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a larger connected global design team working on leading, world class products in production design. 
Contribute to the styling and functional design development of color and trim strategies for a wide-range of vehicle programs and brands. This will include extensive benchmarking of industry trends in fashion, competitive analysis, home/contract furnishing and product design.
Your role is to see the future - researching, designing and creating proposals that demonstrate innovative color, materials and decor and texture ideas from concept to implementation for automotive application. Understanding brand and strategy as the filter you will contribute to the development of world class color & trim design concepts for interiors and exteriors of automotive product in both 2D and 3D proposals.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support creation of original and compelling design ideas.
  • Incorporate innovative technologies, great usability and brand vision into color and material strategies.
  • Help to define and support the execution of a vision for branded color and material strategies.
  • Develop and integrate customer focused need and brand differentiation into all aesthetic proposals. 
  • Make presentations of new thoughts and designs, both orally and visually.
  • Frequent contact with others outside the work group.


Additional Job Description

Skills and Abilities:
  • Rendering capabilities with Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of current trends in design.
  • Creative proficiency with supporting portfolio.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Good Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
Education and Training:
Currently working towards a Bachelor or Advanced degree in the following:
  • Textile Design
  • Industrial Design
  • Interior Design
  • Fashion Design
  • Jewelry Design
  • Product Design
  • Automotive Design

The median level of the monthly salary compensation for this role is $4500 dependent upon class status and degree. Benefit options are not available for this role.
