Job Description
At Global Connected Services (GCS), we are GM’s subscription franchise whose purpose is to make moving through the world better for our customers. Our vision is to create a more protected and connected world by empowering our customers, keeping it simple, earning trust, and creating the future. The team is responsible for growing and expanding the industry-leading OnStar connectivity, safety and security, service, subscription and products across all GM Regions.
Various intern positions will be available within the GCS Organization supporting Dealer Field Sales, Sales & Marketing as well as Product Management & Commercial Experiences. These opportunities include working cross-functionally within General Motors to improve performance and products available to our customers.
During the summer as an intern, your responsibilities would be to quickly evaluate information, embrace ambiguity, proactivity ask questions, conduct research, identify gaps, analyze data and create action plans. You will work under the direct supervision of an experienced manager but are encouraged to be self-starters, work comfortably independently, and contribute to the team with your insights and relevant course work. At the end of the summer, you will present your project(s) and findings to senior leadership staff.
Examples of projects and work undertaken by previous interns include:
  • Identify unique opportunity for product lines of business driving value to customers and business opportunities
  • Conducting research analysis
  • Channel Incentive programs
  • Field Sales and Contact Center Measurement and Effectiveness
Additional Job Description
Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in General Business, Marketing, Sales, Business Analytics or Management
  • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Must be Sophomore standing or higher
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Ability to listen well and engage others in dialogue
  • Self-directed, “get-it-done” work ethic
  • Digital literacy with high proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of statistical methods as applied to experimental design and process development
  • Emerging partnership and collaboration skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust
  • Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
