Energy and Environment Public Policy Intern

The Energy and Environment team within the Public Policy Center supports GM's global product development and compliance efforts with government regulations affecting the auto industry. Key regulations at the heart of the team’s work includes federal fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions standards, as well as state-based initiatives and zero- emission vehicle mandates. Through positive partnerships, our team collaborates closely with regulators, NGOs, and other automotive companies to define policies that collectively support our operations, customers, and communities.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide analytical support to the Energy and Environment team. Typically, this involves pursuing independent projects while also working closely with one or more team members to support ongoing workload. During the summer, we expect the intern to be prepared to quickly gather and evaluate information related to their project(s), conduct independent research, and perform quantitative analysis. You will work under the direct supervision of an experienced manager on the Energy and Environment team, but encouraged to be a self-starter, work well independently, and demonstrate the skills and knowledge gained as part of your graduate studies in public policy analysis. At the end of the summer, you will present on your project(s) and findings to senior Public Policy Center staff.
