Dining Services Student Staff

Dining Services Student Staff provide food service to customers of the university dining centers with a high level of customer satisfaction. Ensures a clean, safe and sanitary environment for employees and customers. Shifts vary by position and dining center and may include early morning, day, evening, night, and weekend hours.Positions in the following areas are frequently available: cashiering, serving, food prep, kitchen staff, dish/pot-wash, housekeeping and Catering. Student Management opportunities exist for qualified applicants.

All positions require excellent customer service and communication skills. You must be a Virginia Tech student taking at least 6 credits at time of hire. Criminal History Check required for some positions.

Schedule: Varied to include nights, weekends, some holidays and as needed for high customer service

Responsibilities:
-Greets all customers in a warm, sincere, and helpful manner

-Takes orders and serves meals and beverages promptly and courteously

-Ensures that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored

-Complies with and enforces all safety policies and procedures

-Will serve in any requested area as business requires.

-Follows all Food Safety standards to ensure customers have a safe experience.

-Essential Personnel - required to report to work during inclement weather and University closings.

-Essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, shop set up, preparing and serving food of all kinds (including meats), dishwashing, restocking, and cleaning.

-For safety and sanitation reasons, Dining Services does not allow facial piercings (including clear inserts), gauge/plug earrings, bracelets, watches, rings with grooves or stones, or facial hair other than a mustache
