Spring 2026 Materials Science Internship

As a key member of the Innovation team, the Materials Engineering Co-op will join a team of experts to research and develop new products to exceed the expectations of the American consumer. The emphasis of this role will be on the development of novel materials and processes to enhance the functionality of upcoming product lines. The Co-op will also support the development of new technologies and designs which provide market-leading performance and encourage consumer acceptance. The Co-op will have the opportunity to assist with laboratory analysis to characterize and validate innovative design concepts.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Research cutting-edge engineering topics and assesses potential innovation opportunities within our home appliance divisions
- Plan and carryout laboratory experiments to support rapid prototyping projects
- Utilize analytical equipment to test new materials concepts and processes
- Analyze data and develop presentation materials for effective communication of results
- Prototype design concepts, assess performance, and summarize results
- Interact with design engineers to discuss experimental findings
- Conduct feasibility studies to aid with design innovation and product development
- Actively participate in project reviews and presents results to cross-functional design teams
- Work with engineers on the development of new intellectual property
Qualifications
- Enrolled in Materials Science undergraduate or graduate program (or similar)
- Knowledge of material and chemical characterization techniques
- Working knowledge of catalytic converters, fluid flows, and other chemical processes/tools
- Working knowledge of standard laboratory equipment
- Experience working independently on research projects
- Experience utilizing CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
- Experience conducting laboratory testing and documentation
- Goal oriented and self-managed
